About the Award:
Two (2) scholarships, each in the amount of $1,250 (One Thousand Two-Hundred Fifty)
Awarded once per year
Students may reapply annually until completion of law school
The Wichita (KS) Chapter of The Links, Incoporated will offer two annual scholarships in the amount of $1,250 each that will be awarded to students who are from the Greater Wichita area or has strong Wichita community ties.
Application period runs from August 27, 2026 - September 30, 2026.
The Rrachelle Douglas Brecken-ridge Legal Scholarship honors the legacy of Rrachelle Douglas Breckenridge, an attorney and former member of the Wichita (KS) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, whose compassion, commitment to justice, service, and community advancement continues to inspire the chapter’s investment in future legal prof-essionals.
This scholarship program is designed to uplight and empower future legal professionals who are dedicaded to contributing to the legal community and advancing our community through the practice of law.

GUIDELINES
The Wichita (KS) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will offer two annual scholarships in the amount of $1,250 each that will be awarded to students who are from the Greater Wichita area or has strong Wichita community ties and meet one of the following criteria: (1) a senior undergraduate student who has been accepted into law school, or (2) a current law school student at an accredited law school.
The scholarships are merit-based with consideration given to academic record, leadership, and participation in school and/or community activities.
Scholarship Essay Prompt: What do you aspire to contribute to the legal community and to the advancement of people of African-American descent, and how will a Law career help you accomplish your aspirations? (500-750 words)
Scholarship Video Prompt: Please provide a self-introduction video to be included in your packet. Best tips for success: Start with the greeting, state your name clearly, share background/interest, share your connection to the Greater Wichita area, and end with a friendly note and smile. Videos should not be longer than two (2) minutes.
Eligibility Criteria:
Residency / Regional Requirement
Applicants must meet one of the following:
Graduated from a high school in the Greater Wichita area, or
Demonstrate strong ties to the Greater Wichita area.
Law School Status
Applicants must:
Be admitted to an accredited law school, or
Be currently enrolled as a 1L, 2L, or 3L law student.
Enrollment Verification
Applicants must provide proof of admission to an accredited law school or proof of being currently enrolled in an accredited law school.
Selection Criteria
The scholarships are merit-based with consideration given to academic record, leadership, and participation in schooland/or community activities.

Completed scholarship application submitted by the deadline
Proof of law school enrollment or admission in an accredited school
Law school transcript (if currently enrolled)
Undergraduate transcript
Essay (500-750 words)
